Virtual Eye Sailing Manager John Rendall came back from the America's Cup World Series in Venice to celebrate the 100th birthday of his grandmother Helen Rendall, a fiercely independent woman who still lives at her home of the past 74 years in Gore, New Zealand. "She is an amazing person and has lived through so much", says John.
Helen has lived through both World Wars, seen the birth of radio, television, the Internet, the vote for Women and the Civil Rights movement. In the 21st century, a typical day can see her mowing the lawns, bringing in coal for the range, cooking for her family and baking her weekly fruitcake and shortbread. ARL congratulates Helen on her centennial year.
