Squirt
Squirt is a kids’ magazine style programme screened on Saturday mornings. The show consists of a mix of real and computer generated presenters and sets. It first aired way back in 1995 and is still going strong.
ARL developed proprietary real-time motion capture software, enabling large volumes of rendered content and very fast production turnaround.
For 10 years a typical half hour episode consisted of around 16 minutes of CG characters and interaction and took less than two days to complete from recording to final rendered animation.
In 2005 the format of the show changed, allowing Spike (the CG presenter) to evolve into a more complex character as less screen time was required.
