Making the Virtual a Reality

17 Sep 2015
The Otago Daily Times visited ARL yesterday, where progress on our Virtual Reality development was showcased. ARL computer graphics, married to Oculus VR headsets, were featured this year at America's Cup World Series events in Gothenburg and Portsmouth... set up in VIP areas, they had been stealing the show.
Technology and Innovation manager John Rendall believes immersive experiences in sport are part of the future. The 2017 America's Cup is expected to include a virtual reality viewing option developed by ARL, allowing viewers around the world to sit in their homes and look around, up, down and see everything they would see if they were on the boats themselves.
