New Zealand Golf Open 2016

21 Mar 2016
The New Zealand Open took place in beautiful Arrowtown this year, and the Virtual Eye Golf Team were on site testing new technology. VE Golf had flown in radar experts from South Africa, production experts from London, and brought some home grown programming talent from Dunedin to work together on bringing the NZ Open to the forefront of new technology in golf. The event went really well and the testing was successful. The team will now get into research and development mode with a goal of rolling out the new technology each week on the European Tour.

...and of course the boys found some time to play golf, although they spent a lot of time searching for their golf balls.

Dart River Wilderness 360 action!

08 Feb 2016
Animation Research Ltd. team members Craig McNaughton and Sophie Luther found themselves in the middle of some of the world's most stunning scenery courtesy of Ngai Tahu Tourism this February. For the second shoot in the 360 series they found themselves on the Dart River Wilderness Jet which propels you down from Paradise (yes that is a place) to the middle of beautiful nowhere along the Dart River.

From there they ventured out in Funyaks to explore the rock pools and waterfalls of the area while paddling themselves back to Paradise. All of this was captured on the 360 rig which ARL has custom built for this purpose. The specialised filming technique and equipment has been developed to allow the viewer to become totally enveloped by the scenery and adventure of Ngai Tahu's experiences.
