Whilst working on The Open Championship of golf in the UK in July this year, ARL CEO, Ian Taylor, was contacted by London based ex-pat Euan Harkness who had an idea for a “Living Cathedral" in his home city of Christchurch. The concept was developed by Danish firm Schulze plus Grassov, and Grimshaw Architects, as an idea for replacing the Christchurch Cathedral that was severely damaged in the 2011 earthquake. Ian believed enough in the concept to offer the visualisations for free. "I happen to think that the Living Cathedral, a concept that sets the old cathedral as the altar of a new, inclusive place of remembrance, is wonderful" says Taylor.
