Britten: Backyard Visionary @ NZ On Screen

21 Jan 2012

After just three years online, NZ On Screen has received 1.5 million visits, a Qantas Media Award and has more than 1700 titles in its collection. NZ On Screen has just released the list of its Top 10 most-watched titles (to Jan 2012), and Britten: Backyard Visionary (made by Taylormade Media) came in first after receiving more than 50,000 views worldwide.

Guggenheim curator Ultan Guilfoyle described John Britten as "the New Zealander who stood the world of racing-motorcycle design on its head." In Britten: Backyard Visionary we are shown Britten as a gentle yet determined man. We see his passions and radical approach to design. Interviews follow the production of the motorbike through to racing it at Daytona. People involved with creating the bike (that won the prestigious Bears race and came second at Daytona in its first race), show the tension of production with limited facilities, time and money.

This core team have remained with the project since its inception, along with several others who have been involved since the early days of the project.
