When Arrow International asked ARL to bring to life the proposal for the new Dunedin multi-purpose Sports Stadium we were delighted to help. Working from aerial photos of the harbourside location, combined with architectural plans from HBK sports architecture, a 3D scene was modeled. Cameras were then set up on the periphery of the scene and still shots taken from various angles. Shots then needed to be re-touched in CG; brightening the autumn light, creating landscaping and trees and then adding reflections in the windows and water. The resulting representation of the proposed stadium aided in both the public and council consent & consultation process.

Teeing off in 2006 and quickly becoming established as a favourite event for players and spectators alike, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship is now one of the biggest events on the PGA European Tour, regularly attracting some of golf’s most famous names. The 2007 Championship saw Englishman Paul Casey win the Falcon Cup, and ARL's Virtual Eye Golf team were there providing course flyovers, hole and bunker information graphics showing any view point, tee box statistics such as rise/fall to green, slopes, distance markers, zones and current pin position.
A last minute decision by the tournament sponsors meant that Christmas holidays for Virtual Eye were put on hold; This had a flow on effect to New Zealand Aerial Mapping who, together with our sister company Terralink International, commissioned high resolution aerial photography and aerial laser survey data to be collected for Abu Dhabi Golf Club on short notice. Abu Dhabi Golf Club had been significantly upgraded in preparation for the event. Improvements included a new gatehouse, enhanced signage, a revamped approach road and extensive landscaping with some 120 palm trees and 16,000 square metres of planting - the features were incorporated into our virtual Abu Dhabi course in time for January 18.
