For nearly 30 years teams of people from Animation Research Ltd (ARL) travelled to sports events around the world to deliver Virtual Eye Sports graphics to broadcast clients, but on Friday March 13th 2020 that all came to a halt as COVID-19 forced everyone back to New Zealand and into lockdown. ARL had to devise a platform that would allow delivery of our proprietary sports graphics remotely from our offices in Dunedin, and it needed to be ready whenever sporting events resumed.
That platform was devised, tested and in use by June 2020. Connecting to AWS global services via Megaport, ARL is able to provide full, virtual operations management - enabling broadcasters to deliver and exchange secure, live video between sports venues and central operations in New Zealand. ARL can also adjust bandwidth to suit requirements, ensuring the lowest latency during multiple simultaneous productions.
"We have all been truly overawed with the power... of the system, it's modelling, and it's operation. It is, by a long way, the best 3D that I have worked with anywhere..."
Richard Carr, Senior Producer, Formula One, BBC. (January 2011) - Monte Carlo 2012
"The... technology supplied by Animation Research Ltd is superior to anything seen previously, and testing has delivered the most consistent data our company has ever had."
