Taylormade was founded in 1989 by Ian Taylor, a former Executive Producer and childrens television presenter at TVNZ. By 2010, Taylormade had grown from a one man operation making regional television commercials and corporate videos into a 60-strong multi-media production company producing TV content, animation, advertising, film and new media content. Taylormade is responsible for several popular children's television shows, like the early 1990's 'Tiki Tiki Forest Gang' (later known as Tiki Tiki Television), in which a tv studio was run by animals and a rogue computer.

With a 10-year run starting in 1996, Saturday morning show 'Squirt' wowed audiences with NZ's first motion-captured co-host, Spike the penguin. This led to the creation of other motion-captured characters for TV, including Ketu Kea and virtual trainer Jenna. Catering to the after-school crowd, 'Studio 2' (2004-2010) was a daily Live show centered around interacting with the viewing audience, be it in studio, on a sports field, on the street, by free-txt or online at Taylormade's own social-networking site, the-hub.tv.

Taylormade can provide production services, from script-writing and directing through to project-management and/or complete line-production. Documentary credits include 'Aramoana', 'The World's Fastest Indian: The Documentary', 'Blokes in Sheds', 'Britten: Backyard Visionary', 'Warbirds over Wanaka' and 'In Defence of David Bain'. Taylormade is also able to include on-site services from ARL and The Video Factory, providing a true turn-key broadcast production solution.
