ARL Commercials

In 1991 ARL produced its first television commercial. A full 3D animated TVC for United Airlines that went on to win awards both in New Zealand and overseas. Since then ARL has worked with a number of large and small agencies to produce many nationally recognised & award winning animated TVC’s - the famous animated penguins for Bluebird Potato Chips, the Gannets that fly in Koru formation for Air New Zealand, the animated seagull's for the Lynx Ferry, the time-lapse landscape and flowers for AMP, the Ribena-berries campaign for Ribena; Jonah Lomu's famous McDonalds TVC and the 'lets buy it' talking $100 note in the ANZ bank commercial.

The Air New Zealand Flying Gannets and the Bluebird Penguin signalled a significant shift in what could be done using 3D computer graphics. It was a breakthrough that was internationally recognised at the Siggraph Computer Graphics Convention. Both commercials were selected for screenings by the International Jury. Bluebird received the ultimate honour, being selected for the Electronic Theatre Screenings, reserved for significant contributions to the art of computer animation. Here's a small montage of ARL Classics.
